In previous postings, I have referred to the Bus and Train User blog written by Bus Industry veteran, Roger French.
This week, Roger posted a story about his experience on the M6 service that runs between Penzance and Mousehole. His story is titled 24 hours in Penzance. It details how the service has unfortunately been disrupted by roadworks on Cliff Road, Penzance, the result of which is that the service has been diverted inland and the timetable changed.
It is an interesting tale, but somewhat depressing as the information given to the public about the changed route and timetable has been dire to say the least. Roger’s summary of the situation was, "This classically demonstrates the problem of remote management and a lack of necessary resources to keep on top of the detail at bus stop level.”
Roger promises that part 2 of the story will be published on Saturday. I will be interested to see what he says in that second part.
Update
21 June 2025
As promised, Roger French has published his second blog on his experience of buses in west Cornwall, entitled 24 hours in Penzance, part 2. It describes his journeys on the First 1/1A service between Penzance and Lands End and his thoughts on the decision by First to cease the open top buses on this route.
As always, it is an interesting and thoughtful piece.
