Christmas and New Year services detail from bus companies

First Bus, Go Cornwall Bus and Stagecoach have posted information about the timetables that they will be running over the Christmas and New Year period. See below what they have published.

As expected, no services will operate on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day. First Bus and Stagecoach make it clear that services will finish early on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, but Go Cornwall Bus do not give that indication.

Also, there is uncertainty about the contrast between Go Cornwall Bus running a “Sunday" service on Wednesday 27 December and First running a “normal” service on that day. On some routes, e.g. no. 24 and 27, First run a daytime service Monday-Saturday and Go Cornwall cover evening services on those days on the same route. This is also the case on the section of the T1 betwen Penzance and Camborne. But, if Go Cornwall are running a Sunday service on that day, that may mean that there is no evening service on these routes on 27 December.

I will try to clarify with the operators what will happen in practice where there are these uncertainties and will post updates as and when I receive them.

I have received an email from Go Cornwall Bus saying that the reference to a Sunday service on Wednesday 27 December was an error and that it will be a weekday/school holiday service on that day. That means that the evening services will be covered as usual on that day where there is a First Bus service during the daytime and that, on wholly GCB services, there will be the full weekday service. Thank you to GCB for their prompt response to my query.
