Go Cornwall Bus has announced updates on a couple of issues of interest to passengers in south east Cornwall.
A change in timetables on the Bude to Plymouth service came into effect in April, meaning that what had been a through service along the whole route became a 3-part service: Plymouth-Callington no. 12; Callington-Launceston no. 76A; and Launceston-Bude no. 76. This received much criticism from those passengers who had used the through service complaining that connections were not guaranteed and the £3 maximum fare would now have to be paid three times for the whole journey.
Go Cornwall Bus has announced that, from 27 July, they will offer “guaranteed” connections between the no. 12 and no. 76A services in Callington. Presumably, however, the issue of the £3 maximum single fare on each section of the route is not being addressed.
With regard to fares for those passengers who travel between Cornwall and Plymouth, there has been the option to purchase a “Plymouth Plus” ticket which allows unlimited travel in Cornwall (on Go Cornwall Buses) and Plymouth for an adult for one day for £10 (under 19s £7.50). This is being rebranded (from 7 July) to "Tamar Connect.” It is hoped that this will make it clearer to passengers what it covers.
