For many years, First Bus has had the contract to run services on several specific routes to enable students at Truro and Penwith College to access the colleges at Truro and Penzance. These routes have supplemented the general routes such as the T1 and T2 services.
In the latest round of tendering, First Bus has lost the contract and it is understood that Go Cornwall Bus is the successful bidder. Go Cornwall Bus already provides the services in the east of the county to Callywith College (part of the Truro and Penwith College group).
First will continue to operate the current services until the end of this term, 4 July 2025. Go Cornwall Bus will provide the new services from the start of the autumn term, 8 September. We do not yet have details of the services and the timetables.
First Bus notified their staff of the loss of the contract today. This is a further blow to the overall First operation in Cornwall following the withdrawal of services such as the open top buses and the loss of some schools contracts.
