Free parking at County Hall at weekends - Why?

Another bizarre, inexplicable idea from Cornwall Council - Free parking at County Hall at weekends.

This decision was announced in this week’s email newsletter from Cornwall Council. The Council owns and operates the Truro park and ride service with its bases at Langarth and Tregurra and whose purpose is to reduce the number of cars that come into Truro particularly on the busy Highertown and Tregolls Road corridor. The Council has failed to promote the park and ride service properly throughout the last decade and continues to provide free parking for its own staff and councillors at County Hall with the result that these particular groups virtually never use the park and ride.

Now this proposal with no explanation as to why it is being done.
