In April 2025, First Bus stopped posting information about bus services on X (Twitter). Now, Go Cornwall Bus are doing the same. Their senior marketing manager has confirmed that they will no longer be posting on the platform from the end of July.
It had been clear for a couple of weeks that GCB’s activity on X was reducing significantly with no tweets at all being posted on some days. Go Cornwall Bus admit that they have been receiving diminishing interactions from users of X for some time. They say that they will be concentrating communications through the Transport for Cornwall app and their website.
The app seems to have improved over the last few months with bus tracking incorporated into the real time information system and it seems to be getting more reliable. At the moment, I still recommend that passengers waiting for buses who are unsure about the information being provided by the app check with alternative sources such as bustimes.org to see whether the expected bus is en route. However, I will continue to monitor the performance of the TfC app and maybe my confidence in it will grow in time.
