Cornwall Council has posted a story today about Truro park and ride, announcing that “a new operator will be taking on the contract for the service from Monday 16th February”. The story is on the Council park and ride page of its website and it is also on the Transport for Cornwall website.
The Council is reassuring passengers that the service will continue with the same timetable as currently, presumably with the same ticket prices, and that any tickets pre-purchased through the First Bus app will be valid with the new operator for whatever period the tickets are currently specified to be valid for. From 15 February, tickets for the park and ride will be able to be purchased through the Transport for Cornwall app.
Interestingly, the story does not actually name the new operator. Most people are assuming that Go Cornwall Bus have taken on the contract although there have been rumours in the industry that OTS had bid for the contract. From the passenger point of view, it should be irrelevant who the operator is as this service is branded as a Cornwall Council service and it is essentially a franchised operation.
