Park and ride price increases again from 1 April
18 March 2026

No sooner had I posted the story about the fare increases on the main bus network across Cornwall, than I found on the Cornwall Council website that the fares for the Truro park and ride are going up again as from 1 April 2026.
The new prices will be:
Day ticket £2.70
Family day ticket (2 adults, up to 4 children 5-15) £5.40
Group saver (up to 5 adults after 9 a.m. only) £6.80

5 day ticket £12.50
20 day ticket £45.40
60 day ticket £111.80

It is somewhat ironic that, if the Council wishes to increase car park prices, it has to go through months of public consultations and every councillor feels obliged to argue why the increases should not happen in their particular patch and there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth about it. But when it comes to bus fares, the Council can just post something on its website two weeks before the proposed increases and there is nothing that anybody can do about it, and very little inclination on the part of councillors to try to do anything about it, that is assuming that they even notice that it is happening.

For passengers who might want to save a few pennies, you can purchase tickets through the TfC app at existing prices before 1 April and use them after that date. For example, for the occasional user, you can purchase a number of day tickets at £2.50 each and they will be valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
