First Bus and Go Cornwall Bus have announced their timetable changes from 20 April (Easter Sunday). The announcements can be viewed on First Bus website and Transport for Cornwall website.
Changes include: the First T1 and T2 services which traditionally operated the main spine route from Penzance and St Ives to Truro via Camborne and Redruth are returning to that format after a one-year experiment of running the T2 through Truro to St Austell and a T3 from St Ives through Truro to Newquay. As many people forecast, those extended routes were not successful and made it more difficult to maintain services to timetable on the long routes. The Truro-Austell route will revert to being a 27 service and the new timetable is based on a simple hourly service which, hopefully, will be more reliable.
We had been advised a few months ago that First had withdrawn their open-top buses from Cornwall. Now, in a further move that will disappoint many, there will not even be covered buses running on the popular Lands End Coaster circular route from Penzance to St Ives via Lands End. The route will be restricted to the winter format of just Penzance to Lands End. The Atlantic Coaster route from Newquay to Padstow has also been dropped, although this route is covered by the Go Cornwall no. 56 service.
The new timetables have not yet been published in easily useable formats but hopefully that will happen in an all-Cornwall timetable book within the next few weeks. They will be published on this website as soon as they are available.
