£2 bus fare cap extended again until end October 2023

The government’s Transport Secretary has announced that funding for the national £2 single bus fare cap is being extended again until 31 October 2023, and then a cap of £2.50 will apply until November 2024.

We are awaiting confirmation from the bus companies, in particular First Buses and Go Cornwall Bus, that they will take up the offer of funding from the government but I would assume that they are almost certain to do so.

This is great news for bus passengers and, hopefully, it will help to encourage more people to switch from cars to buses for the long term.
